Star Detective Precure: Gouemon

Another good episode. I’m glad that even though it’s a show for kids, the mysteries aren’t as obvious as they could be and seem like they’d be fun and rewarding for them to solve. I was also relieved it wasn’t another disguised thief episode. They’re fun, but can get old quick and these small, regular cases show their compassion the most.

Gouemon is unexpectedly earnest compared to Nijī and Ageseine. Luluka was also able to shine a bit, solving the mystery faster and using a different clue than the detectives. She’s just as self-assured and relaxed, even when she’s meant to be shadowing her (presumably) older and senior coworker.

I’m still surprised by how much attention the villains are getting this early on. From this episode, we know now that Cure Arcana Shadow is a newcomer and the ability to create Hanninda seems fairly recent since Gouemon made one for the first time. So I wonder when they started searching for Makoto Jewels, for what purpose, and when did they need to start making Hanninda? Luluka started out as a Star Detective Precure, and presumably they would have come into conflict with her at some point, so would it have been created then? I’m really curious about a Precure defecting to the villain’s side even (or especially) after seeing what they’re capable of. Actually, I’m also curious about the relationship between Luluka and Mashutan, especially if she didn’t need to know Pochitan to become a Precure…

The next episode preview is the most exciting so far. Maybe a school episode (boarding school vibes?) and the atmosphere seems to imply ghost/paranormal elements. The school uniforms look so elegant, especially Anna with part of her long hair down. I saw speculation that the redhead is actually Luluka in disguise (similar purple eyes and that adorable pout). Even if she isn’t, a paranormal episode seems fitting to introduce Cure Arcana Shadow to the duo, especially while they’re arguing for the first time. I hope we can see them fighting against her next month.
