Episode 5 Spoilers

The dynamic between Anna and Mikuru is so cute. Anna was once again trying to take care of Mikuru despite being the one stuck and legally nonexistent in 1999, worrying if she’s adjusting well to her new class and bringing an umbrella to her. Even teasing Mikuru a bit to herself since a Star Detective like her should be able to notice the clouds and prepare ahead. There’s something really adorable about Anna being the worrier and more grounded of the two, especially if it turns out that Mikuru is her mom.

It’s even cuter that their first conflict was caused by Anna feeling jealous at seeing Mikuru with her friends at school. Someone else was worrying and looking out for Mikuru, so she wasn’t needed after all (this is just a guess on my part, since Anna didn’t even verbalize her jealousy and/or loneliness to Mikuru this episode). I’ve mainly paid attention to Mikuru these past few episodes (how couldn’t I when she’s such a girlfailure, even in this episode too), but I loooove the way Anna went from stubbornly pouting to looking like she’s about to cry from frustration when they’re arguing.

Also, I thought the reason Anna looked so mature in the preview last week was because of the uniform, but the Jett-senpai invention she used really did make her look taller and older for a limited time.

The girl was actually Nijee in disguise, which I honestly should have expected. I was wondering how they’d handle it since this was already Nijee’s last chance despite it only being episode 5, but it makes sense that their conflict would give Nijee a chance to get away with Makoto Jewels and save his hide a little longer. Also, it was a little funny how Nijee already seemed tired and exasperated even before they started bickering. No one was having a good time today.

There’s a bit more lore this episode too. Apparently designs for the mirror loupe weren’t a Jett original, but a recreation of a legendary Star Detective Precure tool he doesn’t know very much about (surprising considering he’s 222 years old and from the London CUREtto agency). Pochitan was already relearning and regaining back some of her abilities, but since she drained herself at the end of the episode to save them, I wonder how that’ll develop.

Can’t wait for the next episode. I hope the March episode titles and summaries come out soon.
